“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens”

The Sound of Music would come on when I was growing up, and I would pull out our trusty tape recorder. I would then gather my popcorn, pillow etc and watch it from behind our couch. There was a logical reason for my perch. There were outlets behind the couch and they gave me the ability to take my small AM/FM radio and plug that in and plug my tape recorder in at the same time. I would turn my radio to the same station that broadcasted the same channel as the TV. That way I could record Sound of Music on my tape recorder while I was watching it. Then I would listen to it repeatedly for the next year. Terrible quality and I would have to turn it up to the maximum volume as I could barely hear it but I didn’t know the difference. Nor did I know I was probably the first pirating pioneer ; )

I do NOT know why they act like DVR’s are so much more convenient.

My favorite song and part of Sound of Music is when the Von Trapp children run into Maria’s room during the thunderstorm and she sings to them “My Favorite Things”.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

I won’t bore you with all the verses but you get the drift.

This blog and maybe a few ones after will focus on some of “My Favorite Things”.

My children are a given, you all know that…….

I am talking material things or emotional things.

It’s going to be weird and I know you will wonder why this is my first favorite thing but it is.

There, I did it……it just is. I love this angle of my house. I wish I had a house at this side of my house just so I could look out of my other houses window and look at this side of my house. Get it?

So there it is. Favorite thing 1.

I love this part of the song…….

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Gonna click that tape recorder back on…….roll the volume switch up to high and start singing this one at the top of my lungs as I start blogging about my favorite things.
