Picked up our friends for dinner this evening and our faithful “stede” sputtered and coughed and limped it’s way back to their driveway. Never happened before and hopefully won’t again but we picked up their sturdy, dependable wheels and pulled out of their driveway and saw this…….
Got me thinking of how many breakdowns do we have to go through sometimes to see our “rainbows”.
We could have been gliding along in our faithful “steed” thinking that everything was wonderful and wouldn’t have even noticed it. But we had to be made to stop…….suffer a bit to see what we really had to be thankful for.
There it was….. a rainbow. We all stopped the car so I could take a photo and we took a moment to enjoy the promise. The promise of better times ahead. It was a promise we would have missed if we would have chugged along thinking life was honky dory……….
There’s an old Chinese saying that goes, “If you live with a problem long enough, it could eventually become a blessing.” Within every adversity in life, there is always a seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. We have to look for it – find it – and act on it.
I am thankful for times that are making me appreciate so much more what I have.
Friends, family, shelter, food, clothing a vehicle that can be repaired…..I am humbled by what I have and forget to appreciate………..
Truly……I am thankful and I am blessed.
