She wore red shoes……..

The day of our wedding Freebird wore bright red shoes…..she loves making a statement…..
little rebel
She loves shoes……….she loves style……she loves the little “shock factor” fashion can bring……
and personally….
I blame my mother.
Momma and Daddy laughed and shared their wedding day story that was set 51 years ago, as we waited to walk down the aisle on my wedding day.
The day of her wedding she wore high heeled, red velvet shoes.

That needs to be a country song by the way……..
And could her dress be any shorter??? Shock shock!
How gorgeous do they both look though!!!!

Daddy told me that on their wedding day that his hazard family rebel sister
showed up in a bright red dress with cowboy boots.
Boy we miss her……
And we wonder why we were born with a little bit of spunk and attitude?

Momma still has her shoes to this day.
Freebird has worn them and loves them and what they represent.
Two pairs of shoes……
51 years apart
Funny how alike they are.
Precious, how alike the owners of the shoes are………

In my adult stage of life I do believe in looking back that my momma and daddy were making a little statement………….
Showing a little bit of their sassy sides……

You know…..what they acted like they had to “discipline” out of us when we showed ours as we were growing up and they were just so mystified at to where it had come from……..yeah, that sassy side.

So…… for any wild oats my children wish to sow or will sow….
and oh how I pray they do not sow any…….
However…if they should……
I blame my father and my mother ….
but I also thank them.
For even now they are praying for them. They have since before they were even born.
They pray for each and every one of their children daily as well.
They have taught us the power of prayer.
They taught us to embrace our differences……love who we were and are….stand strong in what we believe…and remember no matter how blessed we were…..
to never forget where we came from….
and to be proud of that heritage.
I am proud of where we came from and I thank you both for that…..
and mom……
thanks for the callouses……
my love of shoes is killer on my feet.
Honestly though……
She wore tiny, red velvet, high heeled shoes…..
and I pray that one day I can come close to filling them.
Love,
me

I just got onto mom for not telling me she still had her wedding shoes! I would have loved to wear them in my wedding. I don’t think a size 10 foot would fit into a 4 1/2 though.

You could have carried her red purse that her mother gave her for a wedding present. Do you still have that Sharon?

I can still see the red purse but it disappeared. I carried my white bible and Grandma had a white crocheted pair of gloves she let me wear. It was a good day except the fire siren went off and half the wedding party was out of there.
