Before and Afters

I am still browsing through birthday party pics and in the spirit of my sons bday week, I thought I would share some bday before and after shots……..
Before and afters, as in some of these kids have been together their whole lives and it was bittersweet to see how they have grown.
My boy and his cousin when they were babies…….
And now…….
I know…….kill me.
When I was going through photos, his cousin was in every bday photo right behind my boy
She has always been his “little mother”
They love each other to death and can drive each other crazy……..
Yes, that is me in the yellow mans oxford with the highwaisted mom jeans.
I know……
Kill me again.
These two babies…………
Are now……. these two…… babies………
My heart really hurts.
Takes away some of the pain when I see that we posed every single sentimental shot in front of our cluttered, non backdrop, back doors for some reason.
Ummmmm???? Staging classes anyone??? Sign me up please.
This one is too funny……poor baby girl……..
I mean,  I did some things to my kids too….just ask my son what he thought of that sweater……
But candy canes in her hair??? ; )
We laughed about this one…….
Now…..she’s the one on the left….Hello?
And the little one in the middle… of my baby nieces…….
She used to look like this.
This smile cracks me up. Why couldn’t she have stayed this little?
Our kids were beach babies.
Our dermatologist appreciates that now.
Next up…..
These three amigos……..this was my sons 9 year old bday party.
Our sweet neighbors came…….and brought these electric animal party favors……for real.
They printed out these photos to add to the present they gave my son.
The same boys now……….
For some reason they felt dorky posing like this?
LOL……Love making my kids feel dorky.
The next one really slays me though.
It’s when these two get together that I still have a hard time grasping how much time has passed.
See…..growing up we had a farm and we were really strict parents and had the boys work from sun up to sun down.
They grew up knowing how to milk a cow…..bring in sheep…….you know farm stuff.
Truth……I can barely get my boy to take the trash out without fifty reminders.
But these boys were buds since birth.
Say that ten times really fast.
One of their Christmas plays. Could you not eat them up?
Not as tasty and clean in this next photo but it was funny to see how they used to always pose for pic’s.
My son….messy and sloppy and hanging on his always “put together” friend.
That is also why this photo is so neat.
So out of the norm for his buddy to be dirty too.
I am going to puke.
What am I going to do when he leaves for college????
Will it be weird to move with him?
Can I home-college him?
It kills me every…..single….. time Freebird leaves.
Do you guys realize how dependent I will be on you?
Are you ready for this commitment?
Check YES  NO or  MAYBE
Before you decide….I feel like you should know me better.
And in fairness to showing the kids baby pic’s……
Here are a few more.
Free loving and carefree on a cruise with a friend.
I wish I could have been on that cruise to give me some guidance. Whisper in my ear hints for future choices…….
Ahhhhh……who am I fooling?
Life is not a  storybook and I wouldn’t have listened.
The “old me” would have freaked out the “younger me” and I would have turned “the older me” into the ship staff as a creeper.
Back to real life…….next………..
Perms were my friend.
Fried hair, bleach and split ends were as well apparently.
Those aren’t beaver teeth……that is a crabby, sassy face.
Isn’t that precious?
Regretfully……it stayed.
Just ask my kids and hubby.
Nice high waisted jeans and men’s oxford mom……..
I thought that was flattering?
Look at the cousin right behind him……..always there……..too funny.
Just entering 2000………….I miss my thirty’s.
Not my boy hair…… but the no wrinkles… sagging body parts…… age spots……
20/20 vision…….
And now.
Sagging body parts……tons of age spots…….and bad vision.
Plus, apparently  a desire to pull my head back in shots to create multiple chins and necks.
So…… you know me.
And my babies aren’t babies…..which makes me old.
And when I started this post this morning, I had to wait to publish it to take my nephew to daycare.
And to top off all of this “passage of time” thing going on…..
The tie dyed gentleman at the front station of the daycare said…..
“You aren’t his grandma are you?”
I wanted to drop kick him. Is that supposed to be a compliment?
I mean……I had my good bra on……..know what I”m saying?
The sista’s were in place……
My shirt I was wearing covered the wrinkles in my neck…..
AND……I have been using tanning lotion to feel “kissed by the sun”  and youthful……..
And I still looked like I’m ready to be a grandma?
Kill me again.
Hope you guys stick around….I’m gonna need you.

You read my comment yesterday. I thought you were his girlfriend.

Pictures LIE and apparently so do daycare workers!

(total avoidance of all references made to your son and growing up due to the fact that I’m home schooling my 10yo and 7yo – I just simply canNOT go there!!)

    Great post!

Mall hair, check. Mom jeans, check. Saggy body parts, check. Dang! I guess we are getting old. But I wouldn’t go back for any reason in the world. I’m in my late fifty’s’, did I just say that?! Love being here. Don’t care if I sag or bag or look older. I’ve earned every wrinkle and age spot and am damn proud of all of it. Your family doesn’t care either. Cute pictures by the way. Oh and you cannot go to college with your son. How embarrassing. Him having to explain to your hubby, why Mom was drinking from a beer bong and hanging with the guys! LOL!!

Please don’t be so sad, sweetie! I have two sons, now in their 30’s and they are such delights! I love the men they have become. It is such a joy to know I had something to do with these smart, kind, compassionate, caring guys!
Rejoice in each and every year Rebecca. It just gets better and better!
