I didn’t tell you about this part.
Remember when I told you that Romeo had an artist commission a painting for me?
And then I told you I was fibbing.
And you still loved me.
Guess what?
I didn’t tell you this part.
That same day…..I got this painting at the same place……. and it was only 6.99.
This is supposed to be a before picture but I was too lazy to take off the painters tape so you could really get the before feeling…..
Sorry about that.
Sorta’.
I wasn’t really sure if I was a big fan of it or not.
I mean……
I loved the beach theme and the old time feel.
And
It is expensively matted and framed.
And
And
It weighs about 1000 pounds….
And
And
It is a signature print…..not a copy…….
I know……
Whoop diddly doo……
It wasn’t enough to impress me either.
I still didn’t know if I was a fan or not.
I HATED the frame.
I felt like it made the painting look cheap.
This pickled color of wood is very popular here at the beach.
Alot of our beach houses use this color for it’s light and airy feel…..Â
I guess.Â
Did I sound like I knew what I was talking about?
I don’t have a clue why we use it.….we just do.
But anyways….I don’t like it for my personal home…it doesn’t go with my style.
So………..
I stained it.
Then, the stain was too shiny for me…..and it sat in my garage forever…….bugging me.
So, this morning, when I went out to get a tape measure for another project…..
I saw it staring me in the face.
I was tired of looking at it just propped up in the garage.
So, I distressed the stain and waxed it………
To see if I liked that better.
Then I came back in with it.
And I forgot to get the tape measure.
I think I like it.
And it’s growing on me more and more.
If you are hanging over my stair rail……
It looks like this.
If you are hanging over my stair rail………I hope you were invited in.
If you are 5 foot and have to “shoot up” at everything…..it looks like this from the right side.
The left.
Before….
After…
I think it has found it’s new home.
And just so you know…….
EVERYTHING….
INCLUDING THE ANTIQUE TABLE…….that is under this painting……
Was bought at a yard sale or Goodwill.
For real.
Except the people in this photo.
Aren’t they cute?
I love this photo. I took it after we almost lost my dad.
I love that he is squinting and my mom is laughing…..
I had better shots.
I just love this one.
But I wanted you to know that you couldn’t find a set like these two at Goodwill or a yard sale.
They are mine.
But if you don’t have a “set” like them…….they would love you just like you are theirs.
It is the way they are.
Makes my 6.99 picture seem worthless in comparison.
I guess some of our best deals in life are free……….
Love,Â
I like it. It looks way better and that wall is a good place for it to call home. You are very lucky to have great parents. Some things you can’t buy.
I agree with Tracy. It looks much better darker. Can I borrow your Mom and Dad for a few weeks? They look like they could be a laugh a minute. Besides, they could give me the inside scoops on you. Not that I would use any of it against you mind you! 🙂
I too love the darker wood frame. And you know your momma was my “away from home” momma when we lived in Myrtle Beach! I love the way your Mom and Dad are together; they look so happy and in love all the time!
Much improved frame, makes the picture look even better! Good job! Your Mom & Dad look so happy in that picture, I can see why you treasure it! Take care, VBg
P.S. I agree with your closing statement…..you can’t buy happiness!!
Tracy….your words are even more touching to me now knowing part of your story. I am probably old enough to be your mother……..when you need one….I’m here and so is my momma. Love as always having you stop by. Love, Me
Hey…..if you feed them…give them a free clean place to stay….they just might take you up on that. I may make them sign a waiver first on not giving out any sensitive info ; ) Love, Me
I love YOU Jackie Lyles! Love when you comment……Love, Me
And I am so glad when money is tight….that happiness is not dictated by how much we have in our pockets….but in our hearts. Love, Me
The painting really stands out! Nice!
Love your folks! The picture is priceless!!!
