In honor of my thighs

I thought I would do a  post on pork.

I’m serious people……it’s getting bad over here.

I am down to like one pair of capri’s that fit me.

But, less I regress….let’s move forward.

I will be busy staining Adirondack chairs today but in the meantime, I wanted to share a way that a good friend of mine showed me in how to prepare bacon.

I know you are thinking…..”how to prepare bacon?”

How hard is that?

Well, this is the deal.

I hardly EVER fry food.

You wouldn’t know that by looking at my hind end….but I don’t.


 Frying bacon is so messy…..and smelly…..and poppy and greasy……


My son and nephew can go through a pound of bacon in less than three minutes.

So, my friend…who is starting a wonderful cooking blog soon….. shared “her way” of “Makin’ bacon”.

It’s easy.

Believe it or not…this tutorial will be simple.
I’m being sarcastic.

You all know that I like to keep things simple and sweet around here.

All you will need is:

Cookie sheets
Cookie warming racks (I had to go buy them….who needs racks when you make cookies out of a tub?)

Got it?

Now……this is where it is so easy.

Step one:

Put the cookie racks on the cookie sheets.


Step two:

Put da’ bacon on the cookie racks.

Like this

Step three:

Put them in oven on 350 for 20 minutes.

My racks look HIDEOUS BY THE WAY!

Keep in mind they are about 15 years old.

Be kind to me.

I’m not gross.

I don’t think.

But anyways…….It’s that easy!

The bacon comes out perfect….

There is no smoky grease.

I just drain my grease into a glass jar that I keep bacon grease in for when I make chocolate milkshakes.

Yep…that’s where I put my grease.

I just wanted to see if you guys were still awake.

The bacon really comes out perfect.

I know I have said that before.

But it really does.

And no splattered grease everywhere.

They also do not cook in “their” grease so I feel like if bacon can be healthier…..this may be the closest way.

I take papertowels and press the bacon to remove excess grease when I place on a serving plate….

Just so you know.

The cookie sheets and racks are easy to clean.

I clean my cookie sheets in the sink and put my racks in the dishwasher.

So… this totally useless material to you?

Do you fry food?

Do you eat bacon?

Do you fear being seen in your bathing suit?

Do you have more than one pair of capris that fit?

Well, I hope you are as impressed with this “Makin’ Bacon” recipe as I was.

    My son makes bacon this way – it is AWESOME. Awesomer still, sometimes he sprinkles brown sugar liberally on said bacon. To die for? No, no, no, this stuff makes you WANT TO LIVE FOREVER so you can eat more.

    Awesome. Thanks for the tip. I hate frying bacon…….but love BLT’s. Have tried bacon many ways and still messy job. I am going to try this but put tin foil on bottom sheet for faster clean up. Thanks again and don’t forget to share your friends cooking blog when it is up and running.

    Thanks for sharing. I hate cooking bacon, it scares me and leaves the house smelling like bacon for a couple of days. I’ll have to try this.

    What a great idea! I have been doing it in the microwave and it I like it better than stove top but its still a MESS with all of the papertowels & such. You are so dang smart! And YES…I have more than one pair of capri’s that fit BECAUSE I bought a few pairs in a bigger size last weekend:(

    Good idea! I too love bacon, my pants also are stretched to the limits, careful of flying fabric! Can’t wait to see the finished results with your patio chairs.

    OMGOSH..we are like your son…can eat an entire lb. of bacon at one setting.
    I love making the bacon this way…
    excuse me, I gotta put my bacon in the oven..I want BLT’S for lunch..that’s those sandwiches the angels in Heaven eat, ya know. :)))

    So great! Can this be in honor of my thighs too? Cause I’m running out of cold days where I can get away with just hanging around in my sweats with the elastic waistband. Summer is coming too soon! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week!
