A fabulous finished finial for following friends…….
Say that ten times really fast.
A fabulous finished finial for following friends.
It’s your Monday wake up call : )
You’re welcome.
THE PROJECT TODAY
CAST IRON FINIAL
COST $1.00 ……yard sale.
Too dark in my lotsa’ wood house……
This baby is sooooo heavy by the way.
I guess it is good if a really, really, really, strong wind blows behind my interior french doors.
Now they won’t slam shut!
Shewwwwwwwww.
You never know when that could happen.
You know what….I hate even joking about that when I am hearing these awful news stories this morning about Joplin, Mo, and the devastating tornado damage.
I am right now praying for them and their families.
So awful.
Handy dandy spray paint…….creme colored……clearance at Walmart…….one coat.
Third coat.
Beautimous.
Then I thought about how applying stain can be so pretty on my wood projects…..get in the crevices….show the texture……
So I applied my dark walnut stain.
PEE-UKE.
Not going for the purple putty finial.
Painted over it.
Used my fine sanding block……and distressed it…….
All over.
Loved how the black cast iron showed through!
Don’t ya’ think?
Before…..
Now……
And a great deal for a dollar!
Love,
Meps:

LOVE it!!!! So much better than the before and the during with the stain….I would say you got your dollar’s worth, sweetie!!
Looks great w/ the distressing, good job!! It hardly showed up in black……maybe that’s why it was $1 at the yard sale, she was just not creative like you and couldn’t see the possibilities!! Take care VBg
Very nice job!! I like it lighter colored much better.
You definately won’t be stubbing your toe on it now you can see it … or is that just clumsy me if I can’t see it I’ll trip on it!
@6c7f584551c936547d1f707d304c4b20:disqus That is so funny because that is exactly what I felt like….it was the invisible finial when it was black….and I KNEW I would stub my toe on it. I literally about broke my toe on Freebirds black table from yesterdays post when I left it in my hall to dry. I forgot and came downstairs in the middle of the night……..Maybe I should just paint everything orange ; ) Love, Me
@4a912b2ce0b260b8915ce2ace69f246a:disqus Thank you! I do too! It made me think of so many things I have gotten rid of that were the “tommy Bahama” darker style that I could have lightened up : ( Love, Me
@4f7fb178b85c26a869b581b3a241d813Â I am thinking the same thing. Hey….weren’t you going to show “your” beach pictures sometime? Love, Me
