Traditional to Today Lamp!

I showed you guys the other day…..my lamp re-do “in process”…..
It is finished. I have blisters on my fingers to prove it.
I do NOT like glue guns.
Anyway…….
It started like this.
Dark lamp…dark table…dark floors…traditional lamp.
I wanted this look…..
Gorgeous….but WAY out of my price range…by about 197.00 dollars…..
The old shade still made the lamp look traditional….
And this inexpensive white one, just made it look unfinished and cheap……
Not just because the plastic and tag were left on…….
This yard sale tablecloth
Wrapped around the “cheap” white shade…..
Gave me the look I wanted….
Finally.
Pretty close to this shade…..isn’t it?
And pretty close to these shades……
All from pottery barn….and all out of my budget…..
But a tablecloth and some paint took this traditional lamp……
TO…………
No more peeks….here you go!
I will take better pictures when the living room is lighter……..it really looks soooo different.
My other lamp now looks so out of style.

See?

Isn’t that crazy?
Watcha’ think?
I would love to know.
I really like the difference.
I will give a tutorial and I plan to work on my other traditional style lamp soon.
Have you got any lamps that could use this update?

It looks fantastic!  I love it.  I was just at a furniture store yesterday and they had some of those architectural salvage type lamps.  Gorgeous!  Great job.

@123532da10165b0c7f16220d7a000663  Thanks Molly! I’m thinking of ways to still get the base a little closer to that look of the PB lamp. Love it so far! Love, Me

The shade looks awesome!! It really made a huge difference in how the lamp looks. Great job. If you want it to look more like wood why don’t you fill in the basket weave w/ wood putty or something to smooth it out? Personally I would leave it Iike it is, I like it like that. Not that you asked……
How is Romeo doing? Ready for yoga yet?? Take care, VBg

Great Job!  I was looking at PB yesterday, and was pretty surprised at how pricey some of their stuff is now.  (It wasn’t always so.)
