Bamboo Art Work

When I was decorating Freebirds apt. there was a blank wall staring you in the face as soon as you walked in her door.

The night before I left, I got up to get a glass of water and passed by that wall and ~ding~ a little light bulb went off.

I grabbed the “yard sale” bamboo place mats that were extras and some duck tape.

I felt like Einstein.

I quickly hung up two of the six…..with gray tape.

I was so proud.

Until the morning.

This was all that was left.

We had another Walmart run to make so I purchased removable Velcro…… i love the removable sticky stuff…….

You know, the kind where you can pull the tab and it comes off neatly from the wall and leaves no damage?

They have Velcro kind now!

One side adheres to the wall…..the other to the mat.

Wah Lah!

Cheap and easy and a splash of color when she walks in the door.

I was on Ebay and there are so many neat different styles of bamboo mats.

The table runner that is rolled up in the glass jar below her new wall art would look great hanging on a wall……

Look at some of these pretties from Ebay.

I see them all the time at thrift stores and yard sales.

I remember using something like this for window treatments in my first house……….

Place mats are great to pick up at yard sales and thrift stores.

You can use them as fabric for pillows…..wall art…..I am even trying to use one as a lampshade cover…..

I will let you know how that one turns out ; )

What is the most unusual thing you have ever re-cycled or re-purposed?

I love walking around my house and seeing that there is something that I own already, that can be given a new purpose.

What about you? What have you re-used?

Let me know!

Great idea! Looks really good…..once you got them to stick. Thanks for the info on the removable Velcro….I didn’t know about it and it will probably come in handy some time in the future. You know they might work as a mat for a picture frame as well….just attach the pic to the mat after cutting it to size of the frame?? The texture might be nice. What do you think? Hugs, VBg
