Is this a french chair?
If not, I need to change my title.
I am trying to make it easier for you guys to find what I am talking about.
For instance……you may be searching for the title Best BBQ…….but it’s really under “Your butt will NEVER have looked so good!”
Or what if you are trying to find out how it went for us on yoga………that falls under the title…..
And if you are trying to see how to I re-did the chair with metallic spray paint and a blanket…..would you think to look under the title, “Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wha?”
See what I mean?
I am trying to be a little more specific….so if this is NOT a french chair…..please tell me….sweetly.
French Chair. (maybe)
I usually would skip over a piece like this but have seen many pretty transformations on blogs out there that had me look at it differently.
And once I re-tackled the issue of re-upholstering a seat…..well, that doesn’t scare me as much anymore.
Except for the fact that I keep holding my stapler backwards……placing the staple “exiting” part on my thigh and canNOT tell you how many times I have almost stapled my leg….but that aside…..I’m not too scared of re-upholstering seats and an uncomplicated back.
So, I did this one with chalk paint.
My review on chalk paint vs regular plain ‘ole….soon.
I used Paris Gray.
PLEASE NOTE…..I CHANGED MY MIND AND DID NOT USE THE DARK WAX…..I USED THE LIGHT OR CLEAR WAX…..AND……
Added another light coat of……
COCO….it’s coming out in September, I think. The consignment store gave me a little sample to test…….I used a tee tiny bit watered way down….on top of the gray…
Ok……first step….wiped down the chair.
Then I took the seat off…..remember….don’t pry….unscrew the seat….duh, to most people….NOT duh to me, when I first started out.
Want to see something disgusting?
This was what was all around the edges and bottom of the seat!
I tasted it…and it tasted like popcorn.
I lied and just about gag re-flexed even jokingly writing that.
I did NOT taste it for those out there that are very literal.
The chalk paint went on wonderfully. I had about 1/2 of a sample so I really watered it down.
The watered down coco on top of the gray gave it a nice look and most of it sanded away with distressing but left just enough to change the color a tad.
That is what made me change my mind from using AS dark wax.
With the dark wood beneath the paint….the coco lightly over…..I wanted to preserve the color that was showing.
It was looking so pretty.
To re-cover the seat, I took that old, nasty, food covered upholstery off first.
Please note….wear gloves when you do that….I didn’t.
See that nasty little scratch?
That was with a super rusty nail.
My Over Tetanus Paranoid hubby about rushed me to the ER….
It will save your marriage and maybe your life.
Or just keep you from having to have a tetanus shot.
Want to see the difference with just a drop cloth seat cover?
Isn’t it sweet?
Want to see something even cuter?
It’s not a picture of my thighs.
Just so you know.
How cute is it with this pop of color?
I had one of those Frenchy printed thingy pillows…(I’m not really that into that style but don’t tell the bloggy world) but I liked this better.
What do you think?
I tried this pillow and it looked like it was fighting for attention and going to knock someone out of the chair.
This one was a major clash of color in this situation….
But this one……..
Like the difference?
The place where I purchase my chalk paint is Beaches Coastal Creations.
They are EXTREMELY helpful. They go above and beyond.
You can go to their website and it will calculate s/h for you. If you have any questions….call them.
They will answer and help in any way that they can.
I am not reimbursed from them and wanted to wait to see what I really thought of them before I told you guys where I got my paint.
They are wonderful and now carry this simple bloggers furniture!!!
Tell them that Rebecca@YouAreTalkingTooMuch sent you…..not that it will do you any good….. ; ) but…it might ; )
You will love them.
So……here you go again…..for the longest post in blogger history.
Before again….just because I can.
It lives at Beaches now……I miss it.
I kept my pillow.
Just so you know.
Were you worried?
So what do you think?
Give it to me straight….even threw in some red for some of my “color” lovers.
