Mission Style Bench

I found this old Mission Style bench at a flea market.

It was a nightmare to load.

It had to go on TOP of my car and I felt like the Beverly Hillbillies.

AND

There were men watching me struggle.

WATCHING ME AND NOT OFFERING TO HELP.

And

I had to pay someone to get him to help ME.

TICKED ME OFF.

I love that my husband is such a gentleman…he would never watch a woman struggle.

EVER.

Shewwwwwww…..

I had to vent.

Thank you.

I came home and got busy….

Want to see how to have a fancy outdoor cup with a lid….if you don’t have a lid?

How to be a redneck 101.

You’re welcome.

These are the goodies I used.

Watered down in both cases…..majorly watered down on coco part.

So start with wiping it down.

Unscrew your seat……

I started with the “old white” base.

Remind yourself that you had reminded yourself that you were never going to buy another piece with spindles.

Because spindles are the “spawn on satan.”

Then remind yourself to get over your attitude and use this brush……

It helps me on the spindles.

But you will remind yourself again NOT to get another piece with spindles.

Let your first coat dry and water, water down your coco. You just want a watery color to spread over your piece.

It will come out darker than you think.

See?

But when you sand it off and distress the piece…..

It just gives it a warm, worn look.

Like this.

Next step.

Over-enhance your lighting on your next photo when showing how to paste your piece so that your arm looks like it is orange.

THAT IS A MUST!

Let the clear paste dry….then buff away.

Recover your seat with your “washed, bleached, drop-cloth fabric”.

Do NOT provide a photo for your tutorial.

Because you are a dork.

And you will take this before……..

To this after.

Or this after.

Or this after.

Pillows can change a piece! Can’t they?

Think you can’t do this?

You can.

I promise.

Because if I can…..

So can you!

Which pillow do you prefer?

Which look?

Like the transformation?

Guess which one is my favorite.

Love,

Me

Love the new look!! My favorite is the red and white pillow, but red is totally my favorite color. Thanks for the laugh and the great tip in the drink cover….would have never thought of that, but hey, as they say….necessity is the mother if invention. You are genius 🙂

Geesh, talented _and_ funny!!!!  I definitely like to hang with the popular girls!! 😉

Gorgeous redo!!!  I love the warm white distressing!!!!I can’t believe there are people of the male persuasion (can’t call them men!!) who would watch a woman struggle with anything heavy!!!  Their mom’s would be embarrassed and would smack them, I’m sure!!!!  Yay for our men!!!! :)My personal fave is the red….I’m a sucker for red and white especially!!  I’ll guess the red was your fave cuz it was first!! 🙂

You know me. The red pillow is the best. I just want to know though, were you Ellie Mae or Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies?! And since those guys wouldn’t help you load your prize, you should have spit on their shoes, hitched up your pants and sauntered to you car like Granny would have.

Your post made me laugh! I’m liking the second pillow…looks like something I’d have in my home. Some men really just have no manners.  Their mommas didn’t teach them well.
