Shabby Chic lamp transformation
Found this lamp at Good Will.
$2.59.
What stood out….although outdated looking….was the shade.
It is OLD.
But, once again……..
An older style has found it’s way back.
It is still covered in it’s original plastic.
It reminded me of the shades that I tried to replicate on this post…..here.
Pottery Barn is now carrying a “new” shade with this “old” look.
So, my challenge was creating a “shabby chic” style of lamp for re-sale.
As I was painting furniture this week, I would use the “leftover” paint on the lamp….
I decided to try a “two toned” look.
I started with the AS “Original White”…..on the brassy metal parts of the lamp.
I painted it all. I didn’t want anyone sitting under the lamp…..next to it….to look up and see the different color.
I used the “Aubusson blue” for the wood part of the lamp.
Wah lah.
What do you think?
Would you use a lamp like this? Or shade?
I passed by this lamp for over a week.
It is a cheapy, old, metal lamp.
It took me awhile to “envision” the old, crooked, shade as “up-dated”.
With it’s new look, I think it could sell.
Would love to hear what you think?
Love,
Me

I think it looks fantastic! Awesome job, I may look twice now at those old ugly lamps at the thrift store!

I think it looks sweet
<3. I think that shade needs some of my fabric flowers! Maybe you will be my first "give away"!!
Great lamp makeover! The lamp has a classic shape to it, which is what I look for at the lamps in thrift stores.
Love!!!
Way cool now!
Wow how cool!
Feel free to link up your lamp to my new Make Yourself Blog Hop!

Really nice Babe!
Wow, it looks so good!!! Â I like the 2 colors on the base!!
Rebecca, you did such an awesome job helping me learn about Craig’s List, do you think you could give us some hints on what to look for when you are evaluating a piece to re-do? I look at the before pic of the lamp and I am certain I would have walked right by it without a second glance. What made you think it was good for a makeover?
I really like the new version a lot!!
Big hugs,
Celia
