Ichabad pumpkin

I LOVE decorating for fall!!!

And I am a die-hard, don’t rush the seasons, kind-of-girl.

BUT

This has been a hard, hot summer…….

And yes, I am now an official-season-rusher.

I’m sorry.

Do you decorate heavily for Halloween?

Maybe it’s my legalistic upbringing……but I never really have.

Here is where I self-counseled myself today and came up with my self-diagnosis of my lack of Halloween Decor.I have a self-doctorate in Psychology in case you wondered.

My diagnosis as to why I do NOT decorate for Halloween:

My kids are older……we are in the country, so therefore, there are NO trick-or-treaters….

AND

I’m cheap.

I mean, think about it…..If I just decorate with plain fall decor, it covers Halloween, Thanksgiving and Fall.

3-in-one!

That is why I do not decorate for Halloween.

AND

I won’t go to Hell.

Just teasing…….

BUT

This is where blogging can be bad.

The Halloween decor is soooooo cute that I keep seeing on other people’s blogs or on Pinterest.

AND

I LOVED THIS HALLOWEEN DECOR THAT MMS DID!

I thought this was such a neat twist to Halloween decor!

Don’t you love it!

And….big bonus!

Technically, it’s not really Halloween’ish……

So……

I wouldn’t go to Hell!

Win/win!

Just kidding for my literal friends.

I’m not going to Hell.

For realz.

But all of my Halloween decor issues aside……

MMS , “Ichabad” pumpkin caught my eye…..

And I copied it…..

I loved this style of decorating!

I love the old classics. I knew my daughter and Romeo’s daughter would love it and appreciate it as well.

Wanna’ see?

I just eyeballed her pumpkin, which will show in  my end result, but in getting her link today….I found out she had a HGTV  tutorial.

Dang it!

I’m a dork.

But that’s my job. I screw up, then you won’t.

You’re welcome.

Link to HGTV tutorial is here.….

Now, remember where I said….let me screw up first?

Here you go!

Now, are you saying to yourself as I did…..

You spell “Icahabad” with an “a” at the end?

Well, if you are like me, then you scratch your head and say……”If MMS does…then I do”.

If you are still like me, then you keep looking at her picture, then my picture,  to make sure you see two a’s…..you reference the tutorial, that she did on the blog “dreamy whites”, .where it shows two a’s….and you think it must be right.

But when you follow the link I found to her HGTV tutorial today……

IT shows an “o”.

WAHHHH!!!

And a different “I”.

Wahhhh, again.

I am now going to vomit.

My pumpkin is plastic, like rubber…..I am going to see if I can get my “mis-spelled pumpkin” corrected…….I am sure I can rig something up…but I wanted to make sure you follow the HGTV tutorial.

It has a different spelling.

I wonder why it originally had an “a”. I need to ask but haven’t had a chance to email MMS. I shall get to the bottom of this!

Until then, just enjoy this half of my pumpkin.

Hey….you don’t think???

Umm…..it’s not because I decided to decorate Halloweenish is it ????

Nahhhh…..

Couldn’t be???

Cursed from the start?

Spooooooooky……….

Don’t tell my mother, she would swear this is why it happened.

~ Gulp ~

Anyone have any ideas about the two spellings?

Was it just my eyes playing tricks on me??

Ewwwww….tricks…as in “trick” or “treat” ????????!!!!!

OMG.

Love,

Me

Just wondering why she would put ichabod on the pumpkin anyway? It is a biblical name. But does it mean something special to her or did she just pick it randomly? Sorry, just pondering these things as I read your post………………..

Ichabod from “Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. The headless horseman. My husband will love that you didn’t know. He asked who “itch a bod” was. Love, Me

I decorate for fall but not Halloween…I have never been into the spooky stuff even when my babies were small.  My family thinks that fall threw up all over our house right now but I don’t care!  I may email you a few pics of some goodies I have made the past few days.  I don’t think the pumpkin looks spooky…I love it!  And thanks for posting the link to her tutorial!

I think yours looks every bit as good as the “professionally” done one does.  Enjoy it!
