Stool transformation and reveal……

I picked this stool up today at a yard sale……

I loved it just like it was but this was a piece for re-sale and I felt it needed a change.

Tracy from Tracy’s Trinkets and Treasure’s did an awesome job on a stool transformation that she posted….

Her foot stool inspired me to get a little creative with my stool.

And I did.

Wanna’ see?

Think it adds up? I love her green but thought this blue may work with my “beachy” clients.

Mine is actually a stool for sitting, so it is a little higher than Tracy’s.

One of the worries I had when painting this piece was how she painted it without getting paint all over her woven seat.

That really was not that hard.

So, don’t worry about that. You are distressing the piece, so it doesn’t have to be perfect up to the edges of the seat. I just carefully used my brush around the seat and it turned out great.

I have a lot of questions on how I distress my pieces, so I wanted to really show pictures showing the level of distressing I do.

I really went heavily with this distressing to “mute” the blue a bit.

My look I’m going for?

Loved and worn.

Not worn out.

Paint will be bare in some places, where I picture hands rubbing over time.

I know one day, when I look back on these pieces, I will probably freak out about how “elementary” they look with the techniques I am using….

But many of you need to know…..I learn something new every few pieces.

I look back at some of my earlier stuff and cringe a little, but hey……..

If I never started…..where would I be?

Probably still thinking I should have tried it.

I am glad I did.

Speaking of which…..

Drum-roll please…….

This is me.

I needed tags for my product….

And this is what I decided to name my “line”.

“Transformations”.

Whatcha’ think?

Anyone?
Hello?

Love it? Hate it?

I really love it…..

Just so you know.

I love embracing the age of a piece…..the beauty of it’s structure…..

But making it new for more generations to come.

Transforming it.

This is a new step in my life.

A healing change.

A transformation……….

And I would never have made it this far…….this fast……

Without you all.

Let me know what you think about this stool.

What do you think of my “name”……

And what you want to see.

Check out Tracy’s inspiring stool and her other more recent projects!

Love,

Me

Great name, and love all the work you do, and how much you really do enjoy each piece you transform. And you know what? The earlier pieces you did that make you cringe, somebody loved and thought you did an awesome job and are proud to own!

First of all thanks for the shout out.  Next I have to tell you that when I saw the stool thumbnail on my sidebar showing you had a new post, I thought hmmm that looks a lot like my little stool. How nice of you to mention it!  :)  I like the blue.  I use to not like blue, but I do now.  I think the distressing looks good too.  I know how far you have come because you use to paint in leaves and grass with spray paint.  I think Transformations is a really great name.

I think your business name is wonderful!  I think that it speaks to the furniture and to something personal to you makes it so much more meaningful.  🙂

Your words about being where you are today because you took the first step is so encouraging!  I very much needed to hear that, thank you!!  Now, when you look back, look back with a kind eye at your early projects knowing that she was still new at things!! :)The stool is so cute in blue!!  I like how you take care to distress in places where it would naturally be worn…very nice effect and it certainly does make it look loved!! 🙂

Oh, thank you!!!!  🙂  I love yours, too!!  But you probably noticed that!!!  🙂

No, actually that’s my point and shoot!!!  Honestly, I often liked the pics off that one better than off the dslr!!  Of course I had the stock lens and was realizing it’s limitations in certain situations.  Light, or lack of it, had always been my weak spot.  I just never got good pics with it in low light.  However, the p&s does better.  Just as I was starting to get brave on the dslr with non-manual settings, it died.  🙁   Sad that I had it for like 5 years and didn’t really get off manual til a few months ago!!  Live and learn, right!!??  🙂
