Thrift store trays!

I love tiered trays and little trays! I do not usually use them for their intended purposes.

I found these two little trays in the misc., messy section of our Salvation Army.

They are not silver….so do not be scared at what I am about to do.

It involves this.

Everyone doing ok?

I like these little trays for jewelery. I have several places I take off my jewelery. (Important note for robbers).

These are great little holders for earrings, bracelets…….you name it.

They are at yard sales all the time and these were only .49(that is 49 cents) at our thrift store. They were yucky……

I knew they had hope.

Five minute project…..

Ready?

First step…..spray paint them.

Not seeing it yet?

What about now?

See what I mean?

I actually took this other one to the store that is carrying my furniture.
I filled it with “free” chalk for my chalkboards……
They have told me that the chalk is a hit but even more…everyone wants this little tray.

They can’t have it.

Like my chalk?  I just glue gunned twine around the chalk. I thought it was finger friendly that way. I can’t stand the feeling of chalk on my fingers. Update: Here is the link to the chalk tutorial! Click “Here”!

These little trays are great gifts. They are sold at many stores for jewelery or in the kitchen section. You can usually get them cheaper after holidays. I promise though…..they are plentiful at thrift stores. Ok? So please don’t buy new. You will hurt my feelings.

I have used the tiered ones and decorated them for my nieces with painted pictures of “rings”, “perfumes”,” girly stuff” on each level of the trays. They have loved them and they are still sitting on their dressers with all of their girly stuff displayed.

I found a wooden one at a yard sale that was perfect for my sons colognes and stuff in his bathroom.

Have you ever done this with these little trays?

Like the 49 cent transformation?

What do you think about the chalk? Besides the fact I’m afraid it now looks like a cigarette……am I the only one who doesn’t like the feeling of chalk?

Talk to me! Love hearing from you guys!

Love,

Me

I LOVE it!  I am so running to Goodwill right now!  Don’t tell my family because I’m giving these for Christmas. And, I love the twine around the chalk idea.

I’m a spray paint addict! I believe there is no ugliness that spray paint can’t fix! I too can’t stand the feel of chalk, but who would’ve dreamed chalk could look so cool! I am borrowing this idea!

:O….that’s supposed to be me as I sit here with my mouth agape!!  No joke!!!  I see those things all the time and never give them a second glance…heck, I barely even give them a first glance anymore!!!  But the white paint _completely_ brings out all the pretty!!!!!  I’m so buying some now!!!!  (Now I’ll think all the shoppers in the store with me are after them too…anyone else feel that??? lol!!)

LOVE the chalk!!!  Super cute idea!!  I do _not_ see cigarette at all!!!  I’d probably buy a chalkboard just to get the free chalk…..yea, I know……;)

I like the look of the trays.  I like that it cleaned up the metal.  I hate metal! Thanks for linking to Wicked Awesome Wednesday!

Have you ever tried sidewalk chalk…the feeling/sound of chalk on concrete makes me feel ill. My sister can’t stand the “sound” of cottonballs.  I guess I’m drifting off topic.  I love your idea…I go to thrift shops only to be overwhelmed by piles of stuff, so I’ll have to add this to my mental “list.” Great Idea, and funny post – thanks for sharing!

LOL This is the first time I have been here. You crack me up. Love the chalk. And I’m like you I hate the feeling of chalk in my hands. It’s almost as bad as nails across a chalk board.
