Command Hook Secret & World Market winner

You all enjoyed the “How I hang my measuring spoon” excerpt of the banana nut bread post.

Would you believe that is one of my most re-pinned pins on Pinterest?

Who woulda’ thunk it?

Ok….so I had a little idea.

I am going to share it with you.

Luckies.

I love these hookies….the ones with the brushed nickel finish. A few things I want to bring to your attention.

FC11-BN Commandâ„¢ Metal Hooks

1. Always look at the weight that the hooks can carry. It is noted at the top right.
2. This is a METAL hook.
3. The metal hooks are DANG expensive. Like one cost the same as a couple boxes of these….

17081 Commandâ„¢ Designer Hooks
Note the weight again.

So, if you do NOT have to have metal….the plastic ones can be so much cheaper.

Now, look at these…..

Dirt cheap. This many hooks for about the same price as ONE metal hook. The plastic ones that I chose hold a heavier weight. Still cheaper than ONE metal hook.

But what if you really want a metal hook?

Sometimes that white plastic is so obnoxious.

Like here.

I am using an undisclosed bloggers example of how they hung their chalkboard on a mirror.

Poor thing….she needs help.

Ok….. it’s me. You knew that, didn’t you?

Here is where nickel hooks could disappear.

Or on a window.

The nickel becomes almost reflective.

But they are so dang expensive.

So, want the secret to getting the metal ones cheap?

Nickel spray paint.

Want to know the secret to never having “Command Hooks” offer you free stuff to advertise and giveaway????

Tell people how to make their own nickel finish hooks for cheaper.

Sorry, I felt the secret out weighed the opportunity for free stuff ; ) Don’t you?

I tried this last night and rushed it a bit, plus couldn’t get a good pic in the low light….but it’s a perfect solution if you do not need the real metal hooks. Please don’t mind the runs. I will spray two lighter coats next time.

Pretty cool,  huh?

So cool you want to share with your family and friends and on Facebook and on Pinterest????

I just wondered.

Now to the World Market spoons giveaway.

Shannon you are the winner!
“Too cute! What a great idea to hang them. I love World Market and the hubby pouts every time I say I want to stroll through!! LOL!! Good luck w/the 5k!!!”

Congrats Shannon!!!

So, could you use the spray paint trick?

I bought the nickel hook to put up my coffee filter wreath in my entry. I didn’t want my hours of hot glue madness hanging from an unsightly white plastic peg! Thanks for the tip, will invest in a can of nickel paint!

Just finished making brownies for the family and had measuring cups falling everywhere while I looked for the size I needed. Can’t wait to organize mine on command hooks. Also thinking about how many I need to paint that I am already using throughout the house!

My daughter and I just got hooked on Command hooks (pardon the pun) since we bought our house! This idea is, as usual, since it’s from YOU, BRILLIANT!

(Do you think Laura, up there, realizes how much she looks like Mary Tyler Moore? and that ‘Laura’ was her name in the original Dick Van Dyke show? I think about it every time I read her posts!)
