Oriental Salad + Anthro knob giveaway!

It’s a two-fer again! Two topics!

Lucky you.

Remember my thrifted copper cookie jar? I didn’t have anyone guess correctly what I used to replace the missing “lid knob” in the brass and blue post. ( I cannot figure out what to call that thing btw)

The answer:

My Anthropologie clearance knobs! Can you imagine the possibilities people? Don’t forget….if you are my FB friend,  I LOVE posting the fun clearance deals I find or am told about. Be my friend on FB….please??? I love it because I really get to know you guys over there.

Now….why am I showing you two green knobs and two pretty clear glass knobs?

Because I am giving them away! Woo Hoodly Hoo!!!
I will get to the giveaway in a minute.

But first I want to share a simple recipe that you will seriously fall in love with. Your friends and family will fall in love with AND you will look like you belong on a nationally syndicated food show when you make it.

For real.

Ingredients needed:
*Sugar *Ramen noodles (ORIENTAL flavored! NOT BEEF AS SHOWN ) THANK YOU MONA! *Sunflower seeds *green onions *Red wine or white wine vinegar *Canola oil *Bag of cole slaw (you can shred your own if you want, I’m not the boss of you)

Easy first steps.

Mix together:
*Seasoning packets of ORIENTAL Ramen noodles
*3/4 cup sugar
*1 cup red or white vinegar (I think red is my favorite)
*I cup of canola oil

Whisk it all up! I think a whisk makes me look kitchen savvy. Confession: when friends come over for dinner, I leave one in my dish drainer. Even if I didn’t use it. It just looks so professional. Like I made something from scratch. Don’t tell a soul. Kk?

Now, in a separate bowl…..crunch up your Ramen noodles. I do this while they are in the bag.
Less mess.

Add your sunflowers and chopped onions.

Pour your dressing on your dry ingredients. Yours should not be as thick. I used too much sugar and had to add more vinegar after I was finished.

Now, mix it all together.

And just add your slaw.

Wah Lah!

Seriously. This is sooooooo good and even delicious days after.

You will love and so will your friends and family! You will love this so much that you will forward this recipe to everyone you know. You will feel led to pin this to your Pinterest wall. You will become happy, contented and satisfied.

You are getting sleepy….verrrrryyyy, verrrryyyyy sleepy.

Oriental hypnosis over.

You know I love this salad. It is the best!! I have a question though. When you gave me this recipe a few years ago, we always used Oriental flavoed Ramen noodles. Not anymore?

Not when you have a brain blip! We ate it up last night and kept saying how good it was. I thought it tasted a little different because I used red wine vinegar! Too funny! YES, use oriental. I revised the post. Don’t you want to photoshop oriental noodles over my pic of beef ones. I am too lazy to do another picture! Thanks! Love, Reb

Nice recipe, THANKS!!! Two of my bathrooms have natural carved bone drawer pulls from Anthropologie (on sale at $2.95)and I always get comments on them. Please enter me in your drawing for the green/clear ones (for a small dresser). Great idea to use fancy drawer pull for the lid to your copper canister! MaryBeth schwarzmb@gmail.com

I love your blog, you are so funny. Those knobs are cool, and I wouldn’t know what to call that on the cookie container either. I just so happen to need 4 pulls and I think those would be perfect……….

I also make a version of this salad — with these differences:
    Broccoli slaw instead of cabbage
Add a healthy dose of pepper to the dressing
Apple cider vinegar instead of white (is that what you mean by red?)
While I chop the onions and such – I let about 1/3 C. of raisins soak in the dressing as well
1/2 c. of toasted, almond pieces
The greens of the salad all soak in the dressing in the fridge and the ‘crunchies’ nuts, seed, & noodles all get added just before serving.
This is one of our families favorites and there’s some leftover in the fridge right now…. but not for long!
I have some plans for those lovely little knobs too… Thanks for the chance!

That looks yummy Rebecca! I will have to try it. 🙂 Both of these types of knobs are cute too–I would never think to pair it with your copper pot but it looks like a match made in heaven.
