Goodwill Scores!

I mentioned on my “stories behind the beach house” posts about a couple of Goodwill scores.

I thought I would share them a little closer.

Thrift finds have supplemented my home and my rentals. If you are new to thrifting, it is something you have to try more than once.

I had purchased two runners from Lowes while we were at the beach house to stretch out the “life” of our carpet. Later that day my sister stopped at the nearby Goodwill and told me about three runners that were there.

SCORE! The quality difference was unreal. Made the Lowes ones look paper thin. Spent less on three from Goodwill than almost one from Lowes.

$4.00 woven jute end table. Kids sat on it a lot. It is very sturdy. I left the worn look. I really liked it better that way.

Cutting board and tray from Homegoods with tag still attached.

What are you missing that is waiting out there for you?

Give it more than one try.

I do NOT live in a magic area.

It just takes perseverance.

It’s a great Saturday to go find your own deals!

Have you found anything fun lately?

Have a favorite recent find?

I would love to know!

Thrifting is a blast!! A true treasure hunting experience!! What a score on the runners and I do love the end table!!! I’m heading to a church rummage sale in about 15 minutes!! Can’t wait to see what’s there!! I hope I score as well as you!! 🙂

You are a great thrifter! Our local goodwill store is rather expensive. Some of their items are priced HIGHER than the original price tag still on the item. Can you believe it? I like stopping at thrift stores when I’m out of town.

I would have bought that end table in a heartbeat and all my entry way rugs are from Goodwill. The problem is, since the stock changes, I am like a little junkie, wondering what I’ve missed. I was there, last night, and just as I was about to leave, they brought out a full cart. I had to follow them around, checking everything out and yes, I bought stuff as soon as they put it on the shelves. And here I am, living through your purchases. I wonder if they treatment centers for folks like me? At least it’s for a good cause, I’m keeping things out of the landfill and I have a lot of fun shopping that way. But seriously, sometimes I do feel a bit like an addict.

Love GW finds! And the worn little jute table/stool. Prefect. Then, you don’t have to worry about it.

We’re in the process of buying our first house. And in my mind I’ve always seen a large, lovely mirror in our entry way. I don’t know why, but the two go together. Big mirror + entry way… perfection… I’ve been looking all over and was ready to dish out a serious penny to get one from Ikea. However on a recent trip to our Goodwill I found this enormous wooden mirror with decorative black metal for 20 bucks… but luckily for us furniture was 50% off… wa-la $10 big mirror for our entry way… All it needs is a good sanding and a fresh coat of paint 😀 LOVE Goodwill!
