Want a fun and easy gift addition this year?
Last minute gift ideas that were super popular and oh.so.simple.
How many of you have down-sized gifts to friends and even family?
Last year, I baked home-made cookies and gave them to friends in lieu of gifts.
It was personal and well received.
Well, I have another fun and simple gift idea this year.
I know you probably already invented this gift idea but it just hit me today. It is a trick from years “way-gone-by”, that I had used “back in the day”. WE used to use this trick to make “country style” decor.
The memory of this “trick” came back to me because I had picked up some cute and cheap baskets at thrift and yard sales. I was getting ready to price them for my booth, but they were so plain that I was putting a low amount on them because of their simplicity…… when the “old and used” idea hit me.
Like a ton of DIY bricks.
Right up side of da’ head.
Take a cheap thrift store or yard sale basket and spice it up…….quick and easy like.
I am not sprucing them up for decor. I am sprucing them up for a “meaning”.
Here is what I mean…..
My yard sale and thrift store baskets are no longer just “baskets” they are “fellowship baskets“.
Yes, copyrighted here at YATTMBLOG.com. ; )
If you are from the South, you will understand the word “fellowship“.
In the south it means the following:
Let’s get together and eat. Let’s get together and party. Let’s get together and chat. Let’s get together and cry. Let’s get together and laugh…..
Let’s “fellowship”. It is what is shared between those you love.
So, how perfect to carry small , thrifty gifts to friends and family in something different than a gift bag.
Carry them in your “fellowship basket“.
Are you going to any Christmas parties where you are taking the host or hostess a gift?
What about family and friends that you make Christmas cookies for?
Don’t use gift bags.
Turn thrift store and yard sale baskets into “fellowship baskets“.
Turn “plain” baskets into part of the gift or even the gift alone.
Take it from here in it’s plain state…..
You just created a “fellowship Basket”. Tell them they can use this gift to share their gifts with others. Make it part of their gift. Create the “story of the fellowship basket”.
My basket will have a small amount of baked goods, that I normally put in Christmas tins etc. but this year it will have a fun twist.
What my tag will say…or something similar:
Dear friend or family member,
This is a special basket. It is called a “fellowship basket”. We are giving it to you this holiday season because you are so very special to us and for you to know that we appreciate your fellowship. If you would like to re-gift this basket, please know that we would be honored. It is meant to be shared. To provide “fellowship” with others. It has started with you. Please accept this gift and know that we appreciate and love you. May this be a season of new and wonderful memories and “fellowship” with family and friends. Love, The Stanley Family
Wah lah! A fellowship basket!
We did it people! You guys are so good at keeping my mind challenged! Thank you so much!
Another thrifty gift idea! Just what we all needed right now. : )
Ribbon and a basket that you “create a story” for….that easy.
I get my ribbon from Costco. You get 50 yards for an awesome deal but you can get at Michaels etc. Just weave it through where you can. Knot it off. Tie some bows. and Wah lah…….
I do not glue the ribbon on. I just wrap and weave and tie bows on the end. That way, they can always take the ribbon off if they would like to keep the basket plain after the holidays.
What an affordable and fun way to give your thrifty gifts.
Plain yard sale basket…..
Dreading my cookies again this year?
