Beer Can Chicken
Want moist and flavor filled chicken?
Mess free?
Easy and cooked on a grill, with an aroma that will have your neighbors mouths watering?
~ Gotcha’ covered.
Beer Can Chicken (on its back…it cooks standing up!) ; )
Cast of characters:
One Young Whole Chicken
One half of a beer (don’t waste the other half!) ; )
Spices
EASY!
I always make our own “rubs” for our fried turkeys and chickens.
Here is what I used this time and it may have been one of the most flavorful.
Pssst….that is onion powder on the left. It is English on the back. I’m just so bi-lingual I didn’t notice when I took the pic. ; )
I make about 1/4 cup of rub with the above spices.
We lightly spray our chicken with butter spray or olive oil spray and then rub the spices on.
“We” means my husband.
I am following him around the kitchen with a “hazmat” suit, and a bottle of bleach.
Seriously…..
I freak out a bit with raw chicken.
But….on to the rest of the recipe.
Why the beer? Because your chicken will be standing in your oven or grill and a half full can of beer literally steams and boils inside of the chicken and emits its flavor throughout your meat.
You just put the beer can….
Well…..
Just place the beer can….
Ummmm….
Gently insert….
Oh.Dear.
You know what to do.
Just do it.
Because the beer can becomes a “stand”.
Don’t believe me?
Beer Can Chicken and proud of it!
You could also put spices IN your half full can of beer. Combine those flavors with the beer….YUM!
Your chicken will be cooked totally to the bone and moist!
Finger licking good!
~Hiccup~
Are you wondering if your chicken will taste like beer?
I wondered…..
I do not drink beer.
It doesn’t. It is just super tasty!!!!
My husband is the grill master. His chicken is NEVER dry. Like.Ever. So, here is his secret.
He cooked ours on medium heat, which showed the temp of 300. He let it cook for 90 minutes.
That easy.
But.Oh.So.Good.
And so much more meat than you get with a Walmart or Costco roasted chicken.
I was surprised at the difference.
Add some sliced summer squash, sprayed with olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt, right on the grill.
Perfect meal in the making!
Think you will try?
What a fun meal for guests!
Kids love it too!
Like the idea?
I would love to know….
Love,
Me

Yeah, the hazmat suit is a must. I know it was an act of God that my husband didn’t die of food posioning from his food handling skills before we met.
